Dartboards
Dartboards have been made out of cork, wood, paper and sisal. The most common dartboard as we know it today is made in sisal.
Sisal is a plant fibre that has its origin from South America, but it’s also grown other places in the world like Africa.
The dartboards have some sort of wires between the sectors of the board. This is often called spider, the boards have different kinds of spiders. The professional dartboards have spider made out of knife steel, it’s as thin as 0,6 mm on some dartboards and with machines the spider is shoot into the dartboard without grip. The advantage you have if you buy a dartboard with a small spider is that they eliminate bounce out.

Mounting a dartboard
In the standard game the dartboard is hung so that the bull’s eye is 5 ft 8 inches (or 173 cm) above the floor from the eye. The line from the oche (throwing point) is 7 ft 9inches (or 237 cm) this is set by the World Darts Federation and is today the world standard setup.
Scoring:
The standard dartboard is divided into 20 numbered sections, scoring from 1 to 20 points, by wires running from the small central circle (bull’s eye) to the other circle wire. Circular wires within the outer wire subdivide each section into singles, doubles and triple areas. The bull’s Eye (circle in the middle) is two section green bull’s eye and red bull’s eye. The green is 25 points, and the red is 50 (double bull’s eye)
